After many years of planning and setbacks, this project is finally at the goal line. Cabela’s sold its property to Evergreen Development Company in December 2016. Evergreen’s plans include a 30-acre office complex, a 300-unit multi-family community, a large anchor store, hotels, and a village center with entertainment and restaurant options. Construction is scheduled to start in the fall of 2017. The project is estimated to increase revenues to the City by over $3.5 million each year. Wheat Ridge will contribute $10 million from the 2E tax increase for the construction of hook ramps off I-70 into the new development. The City is currently negotiating with Evergreen to contribute additional funds for other public improvements required for completion of the project.
